Eco Practicum NYC Participants

Arrivals & Departures
Eco Practicum NYC runs two week-long sessions, both beginning and ending on a Sunday. Participants are asked to arrive and depart between 12pm and 2pm. If you have special arrival or departure needs, please let us know in advance of the program so we can do our best to accommodate you. Transportation
Transportation is provided to participants for the entire duration of the practicum. Most of the time, we will be using public transportation. However, we do not provide transportation to and from our accommodations, at the beginning and end of the program. Participants must arrive and depart independently. Accomodations
Our home base for the duration of the program is the Yellow Block Bed & Breakfast located in in Brooklyn. All participants are required to live together in the Eco Practicum house. Bedrooms are shared, with up to four beds per room. The rooms will be divided according to gender. The house includes a fully equipped kitchen, a common room, and WiFi. Address: 208 Quincy Street Brooklyn, NY 11216 The house is within walking distance to the subway, so you will be able to reach it via public transportation or taxi. Packing ListLaundry availability on site is not guaranteed. Please do not bring anything too delicate and / or valuable. Remember, March in New York City can still be very cold. You will also have some opportunities to explore the city on your own, so feel free to bring any clothes that you would find appropriate during your free evenings.

Daily Schedule
Participants arrive on Sunday, and the Monday-Friday schedule is relatively consistent. We will work on the same farm every day, and meet with a different expert in the field every afternoon. The evenings often include guest speakers, video screenings, text studies in order to prepare for the following day. There is a free evening on Friday. Saturday is a late wake-up, followed by bruch, and the afternoon spend processing the experience, compiling recommendations, and working on the final project - which is a poster that will be published online and in print.
